The Parish Life Committee addresses the social needs of our active parish and provides ministry to the sick, elderly, homebound and bereaved.

Beginning Christian Experience

BCE is a playgroup for parents (or grandparents) and their children 0-5 years of age. This group is a supportive environment for the children to grow and have fun while parents interact with other vitally concerned parents.

Bereavement Consolaition Ministry

A ministry of support and comfort for grieving families during and after funerals.  Includes prayers, post-funeral meals, house sitting, cards, and periodic contacts to the families of the deceased for the first year following the loss of a loved one.

Covenant Committee

Continuing our covenant mission with Christ Episcopal Church and House of Prayer Lutheran Church, sponsoring ecumenical Lenten services, Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, and other ecumenical activities.

Cultural Diversity Committee

Focuses on recognizing and celebrating our cultural diversity in all aspects of parish life. Annual events include the multicultural Epiphany Liturgy and potluck meal.

Forever Young Club

Provides social activities, potluck dinners, interesting programs and outings.  COME JOIN US - Active, Interested seniors, age 50 and older.

Ministry to the Sick and Homebound

Offers spiritual consolation and ministers the Eucharist to Catholics in Hardin Memorial Hospital, Health South, local nursing homes and assisted living facilities and to the homebound.

Newcomers Welcome Committee

Calls on and welcomes new parishioners to St. James and assists with welcoming functions.

Our Lady of Fatima Rosary Guild

This local branch of the International Rosary Guild strives to provide rosaries for the foreign missions and to increase the daily recitation of the rosary.  Donors and rosary makers and welcome. Dues are $2 per year for adults and $.25 for children. Meetings are at 8:30 AM on the last Monday of each month.

Social Committee

Coordinates, plans and serves as hosts for special receptions and dinners.

Sunday Morning Social

Serves coffee and donuts after 8 AM and 10 AM Sunday Masses, providing a cordial, welcoming social gathering for the congregation.

Transportation

Volunteer “Sunday Drivers” needed to provide a ride to weekend Mass for parishioners who temporarily have no means of transportation.  (Drivers covered by St. James Insurance)
