Saint James
Catholic School

	The tradition of educating children in a Catholic setting was begun in Elizabethtown in the year 1870.  To meet the educational needs of students in an ever-changing world, the facilities and programs have been continually expanding.
	Today, Saint James Catholic School strives to provide an environment that develops the whole student allowing him or her to grow spiritually, academically, socially, physically, and morally.

About St. James

·	Approximately 400 students attend grades    K-8. Class size varies, but never exceeds Kentucky Standards.
·	Preschool offers morning and afternoon sessions for 3 and 4 year olds.
·	Curriculum is approved by the State of Kentucky.
·	St. James School is part of the Archdiocese of Louisville school system and follows the directives of the Archdiocese.
·	After-school care is available until 5:30 p.m.


Faculty





All of the teachers at St. James School meet or exceed education requirements both of Kentucky and the Archdiocese.
A full time teacher’s aide assists the teacher in Grades K-3.


Parental Involvement








Parents play a key role in a child’s success in school.  At St. James School, parents help set the direction of the school through the School Board and PTA.
Parent-Teacher-Student conferences are held twice a year, and teachers are always available for questions regarding a child’s progress.
Fall Festival, PTA, School Board, Weekly Bingo, Room Parents, and Market Day are among other opportunities for parental involvement.
Text Box: Religious Experience

St. James’ goal is to integrate Christian values into daily life.
Religion classes help prepare students for the sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion, and Confirmation.
Students attend weekly Mass and prepare liturgy for that service.
Throughout the year students are involved in service projects such as food drives for St. Vincent DePaul, visiting nursing homes, and various community projects.
