The sacrament of Baptism is the first of the three sacraments of initiation into the Catholic Church. The sacrament is offered many times throughout the liturgical year and includes individuals of all ages. There is special preparation for parents and children as well as all individuals interested in receiving this sacrament. Please contact Diane Paske in the parish office for more information.
The sacrament of Reconciliation imparts the Love of God who reconciles us to the Church and one another.
Offered every Monday evening after the 6:30 p.m. Mass and Saturday from 3-4 p.m. If a parishioner has a specific need outside of this time, please call the parish office at 270-765-6268.
Preparation for the sacrament of First Reconciliation is offered to students attending Saint James Catholic School as well as students attending religious education through Saint James Catholic Church. For more information, please contact Diane Paske in the parish office.
First Holy Communion
Preparation for the sacrament is offered to all second grade students attending Saint James Catholic School as well as those attending religious education through Saint James Catholic Church. Please contact Diane Paske for more information.
The sacrament of Confirmation is the final of the three sacraments of Initiation. Confirmation perfects the graces received at Baptism, empowering us to be followers of the Lord and co-workers for the kingdom. Confirmation is much more than a rite of passage, but rather a strengthening of the gifts of the Holy Spirit to unite us more firmly to Christ and to strengthen our bond with the Church. Sacramental preparation is a two year program during 9th and 10th grades, with the rite of Confirmation in the spring of the 2nd year.
Anointing of the Sick
The sacrament is offered to Catholics who are suffering from an illness. Often individuals experiencing the effects of aging or physical impairment opt to take part in this sacrament to continue to strengthen their faith while being reconciled to God and the Church.
Offered during the 6:30 p.m. Mass the first Monday of each month.
If you or a loved one is in need of an immediate anointing, please contact the parish office by email or phone at 270-765-6268.
The sacrament of matrimony is a union between a man and a woman who are interested in building a covenant of love within the teachings of the Catholic Church. Archdiocesan policy requires a six-month preparation period for the sacrament of Matrimony. Couples who are interested in celebrating their marriage at Saint James Catholic Church must be a parishioner or related to a parishioner and must contact Diane Paske at least six months prior to anticipated wedding date. See Wedding Guidelines for more information.
