Saint James Catholic School opened its door on Thursday, September 8 to all grandparents with an invitation to celebrate Mass with the student body and enjoy a reception following. The celebration is in anticipation of Grandparent’s Day which is Sunday, September 11.
Saint James Catholic School is fortunate to have a very active Grandparent’s Club which strives to support the faith and educational formation of its 500 students. The club has been operational since 2012 and has been instrumental in providing educational tools like smart boards, Star Math assessment program, as well as a program to assist with music classes at the school The club also celebrates Catholic Schools Week in January by providing cookies to all students and a catered meal for faculty and staff.
Nearly 50 grandparents were in attendance at the event on Thursday and enjoyed spending quality time with their grandchildren during Mass and concluding with a continental breakfast.
“Grandparents are such an important element to the family and most often provide the faith tradition that they are built upon, said Sister Marie Hannah, O.P., principal of Saint James Catholic School. “It was an honor and a pleasure to recognize their unwavering commitment to family and faith by celebrating with them on Thursday.”
